Carpet Cleaning for People with Allergies

without comments

Several tips can help with your allergies.  The most important tip is have your Carpets Cleaned Professionally  because so much dust is trapped by your carpet.  The Pros at Idaho Falls Carpet Cleaning can get the dirt out.

  • Your carpets and rugs act as a very large air filtration system.  When dust lands on the surface of the carpet it will work down in as you walk on it.  Most of the dirt in your carpet is dry dusty dirt.  Studies have shown that around Eighty percent of household dirt that the carpet collects is dry.  Around twenty percent of household dirt is sticky, oily, or wet, dirt.  This is the dirt that bonds to the carpet fibers that you can see.
  • Wash the blankets and bedspreads.  Pillows can store a lot of dust also.  I replace mine regularly.  Dust and animal hair collects on bedspreads and any horizontal surface quickly.
  • Get a Hepa Vacuum Cleaner and use it on everything, mattress, carpet and any furniture covered with fiber.  You will be amazed at how much dust collect on and in the surface of your furniture.  I like the vacuums with the dirt cup because  I can see how much is being filtered out.  Even if they have a dirt cup they will have to have more filters.  Check and clean these also.
  • Check the air vents in your AC and your heating system.  Dust and or animal hair need to be cleaned out from these.  Just because they are out of sight does not mean the pollutants there will not end up recirculated.
  • Clean your Heating system filters.  If these are clogged your system will not be as efficient at moving heat and you will be getting more dust from the system.
  • A good air filter.  You might be surprised how much dirt a good air filter can pull out of the air.

All of these are good tips to help with your allergies.  Remember that the best air filter in your house is more carpet.  Keeping that carpet clean is important.

Two most common Allergies?

Do you know what the two most common allergies are?  An allergy to dust and an allergy to work….

How often should you vacuum?

Regularly vacuuming depends on your home, and the occupants.  My recommendation is every three days and more often if you have young children in the house or lots of people in the house or if someone in the household has allergies.  If you are living with pets it will take a lot more regular vacuuming to keep up with the dust accumulation.

If you live on a Gravel road or near a very high traffic road there will be a lot more airborne dust entering your home.  Also if you home is older and the windows and doors do not seal tightly a lot more dust will seep in.  If you have your windows open a lot you will get a lot more dust into your home environment.
